Three's a family

Ok folks, I posted some pictures on my facebook page, but i'll put them up here too.

Emily's water broke at 5 am on wednesday morning. My response was something like "whaaaat??? Are you kidding!? You must be wrong." But sure enough it did, and natually or by induction, Naomi and Petra were going to get a new cousin very soon.

The house isn't nearly ready, and will have to wait now until I send the 2 girls home for Christmas so I can have the place to myself for a week or 2.

Emily wasn't having contractions, so we were sent home and told to return in 24hrs if nothing started. So we went home, did laundry, put the kitchen back togeather, and generally cleaned up. Emily went for her accupunture, which was to help induce labour, and it worked, because she came home at around 4 in the afternoon having the odd contraction here and there. We went out to do some shopping (you know the stuff you hold off buying just in case you get it at a shower, besides, the baby's not here yet.....), and the contractions started coming stronger and more frequent. We decided to head back to the hopital at around 6 pm, and by 7, thing were starting to happen in a big way. At check-in she was 3-4cm dialated. We went into the birthing unit at around 7:30 and tried the tub and some drugs to relax (all legal stuff, nothing funny). That didn't work too well, so she got on the bed and was checked again at 8ish, and was 6-7 cm. Our doctor was called to come on in. we found out later that she stopped to make a cup of tea.

At 8:30 Emily was checked again, and found to be at 9 cm. The doctor was called again and told to hurry her butt up if she wanted to be there for the delivery.

8:45 Emily was told to go ahead and push. She was ready! (no doctor yet, well, not ours anyway).

9:00 the doctor arrived, and Emily was well one her way. At 9:35 Maria Jane was born!

Emily and Maria are both doing well. I had to come home to write this up and get a few more things before the 2 of them come home, probably tomorrow. Thanks for all you thoughts and prayers!
Big mouth, small cry. Born 6lbs, 8oz. and 16" or 17", we're not quite sure.
Proud Daddy! Emily being so tired, I got lots of daddy time.
We can only hope she'll be this quiet. Something tells me she'll get louder. I really like the swaddling thing. They don't move around much, and are easy to carry around and show off!
Proud parents. Three's a family.
