Fun and Games in Lake Louise

Well, we just got back from a quick trip out to see Mike in Lake Louise, along with Dave and Stephanie. It was not without its hassles, especially trying to fly standby on a busy Sunday, but overall the trip was well worth it! Here are some pictures (to make you just a little jealous!)

Here we wait to get picked up in Calgary..

Apparently there is a no-smoking room at the Tim's in Calgary where you have to be the age of majority. Here is David with his licence proving he's allowed in the no-smoking room.

Just look at that view and all that snow!

Emily:"phew, what smells?"
Mike:"Eeeew"
Martin:"I can't quite place that"
Stephanie: is suspiciously avoiding the camera. (just kidding Steph!)

Come in, sit down and enjoy the view!

Looking back from the other direction.

Touring Chateau Lake Louise

Heading out to the slopes...

Seeing that Mike skis quite a bit now, he was all talk about how he could ski circles around us, until ....

despite not having been on the slopes for quite a few years, I showed him thing or two about how snowboarding's done!

Like David said at the end of the day:"The old man's got skillz"

David was certainly picking up on things...

Most of the time.

Got to hand it to Mike though, he did pick up on things quickly.

Here we are on Top of the World.

Really, that's what they call it!

The girls ended up doing cross country skiing. They were a little hesitant to go with Michaels directions, but when they found out they could get a map, they were happy to go.

That is until they took the wrong route, went down a hill, Emily did a face plant when she fell and started bleeding all over the place and Steph seeing the situation Emily got into, was so scared to go down that Emily had to wait 20 minutes while she eased here way down. On the plus side, they ended up on the lake, and had a good time after that!

In fact I think Emily was even telling jokes. Steph snapped this picture and look closely at the horse. I don't know what Emily said, but the horse found it HILARIOUS! (try clicking the picture to get a larger view)

Overlooking Banff.

We toured the original hot springs in Banff.

Here is the classic picture of inside the cave...

(or Banff at night in a snow storm)

We had an awsome time and I hope to go back again, maybe even this year. I still have my ski pass I bought with AirMiles. Note to self: don't rush out of the house when going on vacation!

About that picture in Banff - I've been in Banff at night in a snowstorm, and it was actually quite pretty.
