Well, I've been home alone for just over a week now. The girls have been enjoying their grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins, warm weather and all.
I've been working.
Yay. (no exclamation mark, add sarcasm)
I have been kinda enjoying the work I've been doing. After 2 years of living in a mostly finished house, I have gotten all the rest of the crown moulding, door and window trim up, and am about to start with putting down a new floor in the kitchen - the refinish job I did just can't stand up to normal wear and tear. If my plan of working my butt off is carried through to completion, I should be putting some paint on the walls next week before going to Ontario to pick up the girls. (No sense in me hogging all the fog and rain and highs of 12 degreees. Spread the wealth and share the fun I say...)
There will be a few more things to do yet to have a completely finished house, and it should be done by July, provided I don't get called to work too much in June (I'm on call for most of the month). Yes, we will finally have a finished house to live in, just in time for us to ...............move.
That's right, you read it correctly. We bought a new house. A nice 5 bedroom bungalow a few blocks up the street. Not too big, but big enough for us to grow, and have a place for family to sleep - other than the couch and living room floor! We also hope to have a student boarder or 2 to help with the living expenses. MLS# 00057281 if you need to see pictures. Yes, it needs some work :)
We hope to spend the summer fixing it up and rent out our house for September. I'll be off work on parental leave again, so I should have time to do the work. Then again, we have a few trucks and vans coming out in mid July.....
We will really miss this house. truth be told neither of us wants to move. We like our house, we like our neighbours, we like our big sunny back yard, it's just to small of a house and not cost efficient to expand. We didn't plan to stay here for long, but 2 kids and 700 sq ft is getting tight. So off we go again. 3rd house in as many years.
Just looked at the listing: looks nice! Will the larger kitchen table fit in the new house?
ReplyDeletethe table should fit. I'll have to do some measuring when I go in for the inspection.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Good thing we keep your address in pencil in the address book!
