Demolition Day

Well we got most of the work done this weekend. Unfortunately we ran out of space in the dumpster (I jumped on it to pack it in good!), so we will have to wait to completely finish gutting the house. It is far enough that we can start the rebuilding phase. We will rework a few walls here and there, add some plugs and stuff, and start insulating.

Here is our kitchen, minus the old cupboards and lovely appliances.

The living room, I left the carpet down to protect the floors. That and I have nowhere to put it all. it costs extra to put it in the dumpster, but I can put it out with the regular garbage pick up for free. Go figure....

The living room again, showing where one of the old windows once was.

A view of the 2 bedrooms, and again with a boarded up window. We'd love to put the windows back in the bedrooms, but that would add a significant $ to our renovation.

Our ceiling. The trained eye should pick out the significant structural problem I have to fix. I honestly don't know what they were thinking! This is a prefab home, and it seems like everything was built in 4 foot by 8 foot or 12 foot sections. floors, wall and ceilings! It doesn't always lend to good construction. This is why you should always budget for extras when doing something like this!

Someone got really tired this weekend. It must have been all the garage sales when she was avoiding working on the house!

We certainly appreciate all the help from some good friends! Hopefully they can be available for more reconstruction!
